The new UN mandatory training on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA)

This multilingual course is the new mandatory training for UN personnel on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse. It replaces the mandatory training 'To Serve with Pride - Zero Tolerance', which will now be decommissioned. It aims to raise awareness among WHO colleagues and its partners and related personnel about how acts of sexual exploitation and abuse impact individuals and whole communities and what to do about it. The knowledge gained will support efforts to prevent and combat sexual exploitation and abuse.

Course overview:

Background

This course which was developed jointly by UNFPA, UN WOMEN, UNICEF, UNDP, and UNHCR aims to raise awareness among United Nations colleagues, partners, and related personnel about how acts of sexual exploitation and abuse impact individuals and whole communities and what to do about it. The knowledge gained will support efforts to prevent and combat sexual exploitation and abuse. The course also explains responsibilities of reporting allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse. Module 4 focuses on specific responsibilities and accountabilities of managers. This course is mandatory and colleagues are requested to make sure that all colleagues and partners have access to the course.

The course is available in five different languages.

Target Audience

All members of the WHO Workforce will be required to complete this course and will receive notification via ilearn during the next few weeks. The course is also available for everyone.

Exemptions

This course is mandatory training for all members of the WHO workforce. However, it contains accounts of sexual exploitation and abuse that some individuals may find disturbing. If you wish to confidentially request an exemption from completing this course, please get in touch with Human Resources Department. An alternate learning opportunity will be made available to you to ensure that you receive the necessary information about preventing, reporting, and responding to sexual exploitation and abuse. Please note that Staff Health and Wellbeing Services can provide or direct you to support services should you need them.
