Get Social

About the Get Social Course Series

Communities must be at the centre of emergency response. This means understanding the perceptions, beliefs and concerns of at-risk populations. Using this knowledge, response teams can identify and mitigate risky behaviors and promote practices that help to manage the outbreak. The Get Social Channel provides courses and resources on social science interventions in outbreak and emergency response.

Risk communication, social mobilization, community engagement and health promotion require social science knowledge and skills to supplement biomedical information. This channels focuses on these "soft" knowledge and skills that can make or break the outbreak response.
