The International Coordinating Group (ICG) on Vaccine Provision was established in 1997 as a mechanism to manage and coordinate the provision of emergency vaccine supplies and antibiotics to countries during major outbreaks. This course examines foundational understanding of the ICG and its mechanism to access the emergency vaccine stockpile for Ebola, Yellow Fever, Cholera and Meningitis.

Course overview: The course is designed as an interactive learning experience, built around individual learning modules. The course participants will be expected to actively engage in all online sessions and immerse themselves in the course content. The course content is split into 2 learning modules, with each module covering key aspects of the ICG mechanism to access emergency vaccine stockpile and response to the outbreak.

The target audience for this course is the new ICG members, Technical team members of WHO at the HQ, Regional and country office, Program managers and policy makers from Ministry of Health, National and International NGOs, donors, partners, and other UN agencies

Course duration: Approximately 1 hour.

Certificates: A Record of Achievement certificate will be available to participants who score at least 80% of the total points available across all of the quizzes. Participants who receive a Record of Achievement can also download an Open Badge for this course. Click here to learn how.

Contenido del curso

  • Module 1: What is the ICG?:

    By the end of the module, the participants will describe in their own words what is the International Coordinating Group on Vaccine Provision (ICG); explain the need for an ICG mechanism and emergency stockpile; describe the ICG objectives, guiding principles and values; and recall the criteria of the ICG membership and current core members.
  • Module 2: How does the ICG work?:

    By the end of the module, the participants will describe the different components of the ICG mechanism; recall the ICG processes and criteria to release emergency vaccines from the stockpile; outline the role of ICG members in the decision-making process; and explain the ICG functions as a whole.
