    A: OpenWHO is the World Health Organization's learning resource hub for health emergencies. You can access learning materials in video and PDF formats on a wide variety of emergency topics, from infectious diseases to emergency management. The site is open to anyone, from anywhere, at any time.
  • Q: Why does the site look different from my last visit?
    A: In 2025, OpenWHO was redesigned to empower even more frontline responders, health workers, policy-makers and the public with life-saving knowledge for health emergencies.
  • Q: Can I access the site from my mobile device?
    A: Yes! The site is mobile-friendly and accessible from most smartphones and tablets.

Registration and certification

  • Q: Do I need to log in or create an account to access the learning resources?
    A: No, you do not need to log in or create an account. All resources are freely accessible without any registration or sign-in requirements.
  • Q: Does OpenWHO provide certification?
    A: No, OpenWHO no longer provides certificates. The focus of the learning resource hub is delivering life-saving knowledge that you can adapt and apply in real-world settings.
  • Q: Does my old OpenWHO login work on the new site?
    A: No, your previous user profile is no longer accessible. A transition period was provided in 2024 before the login feature was discontinued.
  • Q: Why was the login feature removed?
    A: We have streamlined access to make it easier and faster for learners to engage with our materials. This ensures no barriers stand between you and the vital knowledge you need.
  • Q: How can I keep track of my progress without an account?
    A: While OpenWHO no longer tracks individual progress, you are encouraged to download or bookmark key materials and resources to continue your learning journey at your own pace.
  • Q: The QR code on an old OpenWHO certificate no longer works. Is there anything I can do?
    A: As OpenWHO no longer issues certificates, verification of certificates previously earned is not possible through the new site.

Navigating the site

  • Q: How do I search for learning content?
    A: Use the search bar at the top of the page to find videos and resources. You can also browse the content available by clicking "Learning topics" on the top menu.
  • Q: Can I download videos?
    A: Depending on the permissions set by the content creator, some videos may be available for download. If the download option is not visible, you can still stream the video online.

Language options

  • Q: How do I change the site language?
    A: Click the language selector dropdown in the top-right corner of the menu. Select your preferred language from the available options and the interface will update accordingly. Please note that only some content will be translated.
  • Q: How can I find multilingual materials?
    A: Some resources are available in additional languages. You can access these materials from each topic channel by clicking the hyperlinks of the languages available under "Learn More". Alternatively, you can visit the language playlist of a given topic to browse the content available in other languages.

    A: Ensure you have a stable internet connection and that your browser is up to date. If the issue persists, try clearing your cache or switching to another browser.
